Four years ago this month, I attended the funeral of a dear family friend who I grew up with. Our dads were best buddies. My sister, brother and I lovethis family. They are our people. Some of our most cherished childhood memories include times we spent with these people who we considered family.

This time of year, I always think of Diane. Her passing makes me think about how we don’t have to be a celebrity or a musical genius to touch lives. We don’t have to create the latest technology gadgets to make a difference. We don’t have to do any of that. We just need to be ourselves, show up and love one another.
