How do you handle speed bumps?

life mindset Apr 21, 2018

Life is full of speed bumps.  No doubt about it.  Last week, I mentioned that everything was going along magically until we hit a major speed bump.  In a very short amount of time we went from selling our condo, storing our belongings, buying a new home to moving across the country.

Our moving truck arrived in Arizona on a Thursday.  We happily spent the long weekend unpacking and getting settled into our new home.  As usual, on the following Monday morning I kissed my husband goodbye and then he was off to work.  It was an exciting time.  I could not wait for him to come home at the end of the week to our beautiful new home.  We were so happy.  We were creating our dream life.

Just four days later (only 1 week after moving in to our beautiful new home) my husband called to tell me he no longer had a job. Shock, fear, anger, hurt, sadness and betrayal were amongst the many emotions coursing through our veins.

In the midst of this sh$tstorm and with all the pain and anguish be both felt, I knew in my heart it was for the better.  I believed that we would come out of the other side of this and be better than ever.  While the financial and emotional challenges were very real, I believed this had to happen in order for us to continue on our journey of designing a life we both loved.

“Everything we are currently experiencing in our lives comes about in order to assist us in evolving to a higher level of consciousness.  Even what we now perceive is bad, sad, negative or upsetting is here to assist us in seeing life in a more peaceful, forgiving and loving way. -James Blanchard Cisnero"

In short, the toxic environment, poor behavior and lack of leadership I saw my husband exposed to were not aligned energetically with the direction we were taking our life.  We were worthy of better.  He was worthy of better.

While I believe that this happened for our greater good, it wasn’t always easy to keep that frame of mind.

Here’s what I did to get through such a trying time:

  • I prayed every night.
  • I called upon my angels and asked them to guide and protect us. (Yep.  I believe in angels.)
  • I thanked my higher power for all the good in our lives.
  • I relied heavily on repeating positive affirmations over and over again.

My favorite affirmation that always brings me peace is:

In this moment, we have everything we need.

How about you?  How do you handle life’s challenges?  Do you have any favorite affirmations?

Overcoming challenges is sexy.
